Riptide Team

The Hays Swim Club Riptide Team is where our swimmers begin to add speed and power to the technical strokes learned on the Breaker Team. A process of (a) Instruction (b) Practice and (c) Critique are continually employed to provide constant feedback to the swimmer. All with the intent to master strokes, starts and turns. The Riptide Team practices three mornings a week and swimmers are required to take part in USA-S and summer league swim meets.

Riptide swimmers will be continually striving for "C" and "B" motivational times. An 80% attendance rate is required.

Riptide I 2008/09 Practice Schedule:

Tuesday, Friday 5:30am to 6:30am
Thursday 5:00pm to 6:00pm
Thursday (optional) 5:30am to 6:30am

Riptide II 2008/09 Practice Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday 5:00pm to 6:00pm
Thursday 5:30am to 6:30am

Is my swimmer ready for the Riptide Team?

A tryout with a HSC coach is required to be placed on the Riptide Team. If your swimmer has demonstrated the ability to legally perform all four strokes, butterfly, back, breast, and freestyle, can perform a dive start, and knows when to two-hand touch and when it's OK to one-hand, then they are probably ready for the D2 team. Technique and an understanding of speed are the keys here.
